ABOUT ME

Welcome! 

 

I am a flower and macro photographer.  After years of doing portrait photography, I decided to make flowers, rather than people, the subjects of my photography.  Though I still do love portraits, I have found a peacefulness in capturing the beauty of flowers.

After planting a yard full of native, pollinator-friendly plants and flowers, I enjoyed watching the bees and the monarchs enjoy our yard.  I started to slowly add some non-natives that I enjoyed photographing.  I am fortunate to live near the Chicago Botanic Gardens and can take advantage of the beautiful flowers and scenery throughout the seasons.

Through the lens of my camera, I enjoy exploring the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us in the Chicago area and beyond.  I strive to capture not only the individual beauty of each flower, but also the emotional connections they evoke.  It is my hope that my images help viewers see the small details in nature - the lines and curves, the way the flowers are "posing," and the personalities of each subject.
